Oman’s Duqm Refinery has officially signed the recent agreement to appoint Amec Foster Wheeler (AFW) Engineering Consultancy as the project management contractor (PMC) for the Refinery’s EPC phase.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior personnel and shareholders of Duqm Refinery along with senior members of AFW.
The award of the PMC contract to AFW has been a follow up to the recent announcements of the issuance of conditional intention to award notifications to and in respect of the following EPC contracts:
1. EPC 1 (Process Units): Tecnicas Reunidas SA & Daewoo Engineering & Construction JV
2. EPC 2 (Utilities and Offsites): Petrofac International Limited & Samsung Engineering JV
3. EPC 3 (Offsite facilities): Saipem S.p.A
AFW’s scope of work includes PMC Services to be delivered as part of an Integrated Project Management team (IPMT). Duqm Refinery and AFW will jointly establish the IPMT consisting of Duqm Refinery personnel and those of AFW to provide management, administration and supervision of Duqm Refinery contracts related to the project.
The IPMT will monitor the EPC contractor’s performance and verify compliance with the EPC contracts, project specifications, project master schedule and project procedures in accordance with the standards set by the Duqm Refinery and ensure that the EPC contractors perform all work and services to meet their obligations.
