Siemens, a leading technology company, has appointed Claudia Vergueiro Massei (34) as the chief executive officer of its operations in Oman.

In her new role, Massei will be responsible for overseeing Siemens’ support of Oman’s economic development, driving business in key growth areas including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil and gas, automation, manufacturing and smart building technologies, said a statement.

She will also be instrumental in supporting the digital transformation in Oman through technology and partnership-building, as well as sustainably building up local workforce in the country, it said.

Massei takes over from Markus Strohmeier, who now heads Siemens’ Building Technologies Division across the Middle East region, it added.

Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE, said: “We are delighted to welcome Massei to the Siemens family in the Middle East, where her international experience and cross-sector knowledge will be invaluable.”

“Siemens has been a key contributor to Oman’s infrastructure development since the early 1970s, and I am confident in her ability to drive the digital transformation in the interests of sustainable economic development in Oman,” he added.

Massei holds an Engineering Degree from Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica, a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School and a Master of International Studies from the Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania.

Massei began her Siemens career in Germany in 2013, as part of the CEO Excellence Program. She also held positions in China and Denmark before becoming regional sales manager for mass transit automation systems across Western Europe, Africa and China.

Prior to working at Siemens, Massei held roles in  Brazil, the US, France, Morocco and South Africa for a variety of multinational companies including Microsoft, Embraer Aviation International and Monitor Deloitte, subsequently co-founding a SaaS (software as a service) tech startup in Brazil.

Speaking on her appointment, Massei said: “With a well-established energy industry and a growing non-oil sector, Oman presents an exciting opportunity for us to support diversification and drive the digital transformation.”

“I greatly look forward to strengthening our business, working with our existing and new partners and developing local talents for the mutual benefit of Siemens and Oman,” she added. – TradeArabia News Service
