Oman invites tenders for Duqm port consultancy work

INDUSTRIAL NEWS

The Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority (Sezad) has invited tenders from leading consultancy services for the design and construction of onshore facilities and associated infrastructure for the fishery port in the Duqm region of Oman.

This is the first of many tenders that will be floated during this year to help in the implementation of smart projects at the port. Sezad had earlier this year awarded contracts for the construction of two roads at Duqm Port.

Senior officials at Sezad said work was progressing well on the construction of the container terminal and other key infrastructures at the Port of Duqm and was on track for completion by next year.

Omani authorities had last year announced plans to appoint a consultancy firm for the proposed transformation of the gateway into a ‘smart port’, characterised by automated terminals, truck appointment systems, integrated port community systems, use of big data.

The last date for submitting the tenders is July 4.-TradeArabia News Service
