New Duqm Airport passenger terminal opens

Commercial operations at the new Duqm Airport passenger terminal have officially commenced, Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced.

Oman Air Flight WY935 inbound from Muscat, which landed at 2:30 pm on Monday (September 17), was the first operational flight to land at the Duqm Airport terminal building, the ministry said in a tweet.

Operations at the old terminal ended after the last flight, operated by Oman Air, took off for Muscat at 10am on Sunday, it said.

The total area of the new passenger terminal is some 5,700-sq-m, with the capacity of the airport slated to be around 500,000 passengers per annum. The cargo terminal has been designed to accommodate 25,000 tonnes of goods annually, and with a runway that is four kilometres long, Duqm airport has the ability to operate internationally. - TradeArabia News Service
