Galfar wins $50m Duqm refinery project work

Galfar Engineering & Contracting Company, a major construction firm in Oman, said it has secured engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works worth $50.6 million at Duqm Refinery in the sultanate.

The subcontract was awarded to the Omani firm by a joint venture between UK-based Petrofac and South Korea's Samsung Engineering, said a statement from the company.

The Petrofac-Samsung JV had early this year been signed up by Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company for the $2 billion EPC package 2 (utilities and off-sites).

As per the deal, Galfar will be responsible for EPC building works of Package 1 & 3 of the main contract of EPC package 2- Utilities & Offsites of the Duqm Refinery project. The work is likely to be completed within two years, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
