L&T unit wins $723m Oman coke calciner project order

India's top engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said one of its key subsidiaries, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited (LTHE), has won a major order - in the range of Rs25 billion to Rs50 billion ($362 million to $723.4 million) - from Tawfiq Coke Products in Oman.  

As per the deal, LTHE will provide a selection of technology licensor besides the Feed (front-end engineering design) and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services for a 2 x 225,000 TPA plant of calcined coke from green pet coke.

Process facilities include material handling, rotary kiln and cooler, combustion chamber, gas separation and associated offsite and utilities packages, said a statement from the Indian construction giant.

This award will further reinforce L&T’s operations in Oman and provide an opportunity to contribute to the expansion of industrial facilities in Sohar, it stated.

Last month, LTHE had won a mega project order worth upto Rs70 billion from Sonatrach in Algeria.  

The EPCC contract was to set up three central processing (CPF) facilities at Hassi Ba Hamou and Reg Mouaded Field (6 MMSCMD capacity), Hassi Tidjerane Field (4 MMSCMD capacity) and Tinerkouk Field (4 MMSCMD capacity) in Algeria.
